Continuing Education Opportunities (CEUs/Salary Credit)

Teachers who do not need a masters degree can earn continuing education units (CEUs)  by taking one or more of the five specialized National Board (NBC) courses.  These courses provide a powerful foundation for completing the portfolio, and also helps you keep on track by providing timelines and structures.  Each courses aligns with an important element of the portfolio process, and final projects for each course result in the completion of all or part of a portfolio entry.  These courses are taught by National Board Certified Teachers who are also NBPTS-trained Candidate Support Providers.  They will guide you through the process, and provide quality feedback on  your portfolio entries.

The courses are $515 each and include:

  • June, July or August: NBC 1201X--Quality Teaching and Learning: This course introduces you to the National Board portfolio process
  • September: NBC 681--Membership in Learning Communities: This course helps you complete portfolio entry 4
  • October: NBC 682--Videotape Analysis: This course supports the development of your video-based portfolio entries
  • January: NBC 683--Student Work and Assessments: This course supports the development of your student assessment entry
  • March: NBC 639--Leadership Portfolio: This course helps you refine and organize your final portfolio

Teachers who successfully complete all five courses will earn the National Board Certification Certificate. Download the CEU Flyer for more information.  You can also attend an Online Information Meeting.
